This restless noise within my chest

I used to give up halfway through
Never knowing what I loved
When they asked me “What defines you?”
I could never say enough

But now I think, if even I

I want to trust this wavering self
And all the ways I feel

This world may feel too small sometimes
But warmth still reaches in
A voice that speaks so quietly
Can still begin again

The marks I left along the way
Are part of who I’ve been
These tangled thoughts I’ve held inside
I’m shouting out again
And somewhere in that echo
I know you'll hear my name

Now I hear it, loud and clear
The sound that stirs inside
Awakened from a silent place
No longer trying to hide

One by one, these scattered words
Will bloom into a song
They may shake beneath the wind
But they’ve been growing all along
