When I was a kid, I was often told, “You shouldn’t be picky,” but if I’d taken that advice too literally, I would have grown up without a clear sense of what I like or dislike. Not knowing what I like makes life feel kind of dull, and not knowing what I dislike means my spirit gets worn down without me even realizing it.
I think that if “not being picky” is a form of consideration for others, then “having likes and dislikes” is a form of consideration for oneself. So come on, gather up lots of “likes and dislikes” and create your own unique personality.

[Lyrics]
Q. Hey, do you like stories with bad endings?
A. I like them because I don’t have to hold out hope for tomorrow.
Q. Do you like the cream on pancakes?
A. I like it because it hides my ugliness.
Q. Do you like ambiguous words?
A. I like them because they deceive me.
Q. Do you like words of love?
A. I hate them because they hide your true nature.
I like watching B-movies on dates
I like drinking zero-calorie cola
I like dances that last twenty or thirty seconds
You skip right over the interludes and don’t even listen to them
Q. Hey, do you like talking about next year?
A. I like it if even a demon would laugh at it
Q. Do you like photos with faint images?
A. I like them because they blur my ugliness
Q. Do you like that innocent girl?
A. I like her because she’ll let me color her
Q. Do you like the most beautiful girl in the world?
A. I hate her because everyone says they like her
I like Wonderland ice cream
I like the pandas at the zoo
I like unopened toys
You only listen to pop music from ten years ago
Going back and forth between the worst and the best, I already understand—your predictable words
I like the library after school
I like the empty streets
I like my bed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
I like the casual conversations we had while living in that studio apartment.
I like the days we spent aimlessly.
I like this world as it heads toward its end.
You don’t know how the final episode ends, but
it doesn’t seem so bad, does it!
Q. Hey, do you like stories with bad endings?
