lyrics
—-
Even after I’m gone, this sound will remain

Dust on the speakers
Rain on the station road
Someone humming half the melody wrong

And somehow
It will still live

Cicadas burning through electric wires
Summer bending in the mirror heat

Kids run beneath konbini lights
Like every decade repeats itself quietly

My mother cried to vinyl records
I cry to glowing screens

Different century
Same lonely human heartbeat

Everything ages

Neon signs
Lovers
Cities
Voices

Even memories fade at the edges

Still

OLD MUSIC
Never really dies

It sleeps inside
The air at night

Inside train sounds
Inside cheap headphones
Inside somebody singing alone at 2AM

This song will become old music
And live longer than we do

Jazz bars closing in narrow alleys
Broken jukebox glowing blue

An old man softly cleaning glasses
While American soul plays low behind him

Outside
Tokyo keeps changing faces

But sorrow still walks home slowly
Under the same moon

We called it “new” once

Rock and roll
Hip hop
Love songs
Digital hearts

But time eats every genre eventually

And turns it into memory

That’s the beautiful part

OLD MUSIC
Floating through the years

A voice surviving
After the body disappears

Kids not born yet
Will carry these melodies

And dance with ghosts
They’ll never meet

OLD MUSIC

Even silence
Leaves an echo
