名もなき者たちの物語。
遠き城下の鐘と潮騒だけが、

この歌はもともと、
遠き地へ流され、縁者もなく、
名もなき塚に眠った一人の男を想い描いた挽歌として生まれました。
今作の映像では、その歌にもう一つの物語を重ねています。
歌詞と映像は、必ずしも同じ出来事を描いてはいません。
けれど、その先にあるものは同じです。
誰にも知られず消えていった命にも、
確かに愛し、愛された時間があった。

“Muenbotoke” — The Forgotten Dead
A man born into poverty, whose talent eventually earned him a place as a retainer of the castle.
Since childhood, there was one person who had always remained close to his heart—
a princess born within those castle walls.
As children, they ran through open fields,
made crowns from wildflowers,
and laughed together, knowing nothing of status or rank.
But time passed.
The boy became a retainer.
The girl became a princess.
And eventually, a marriage was arranged for her—
a union determined not by love, but by the interests of the castle.
A difference in status they could never overcome.
A bond neither of them desired.
Separation.
And the passing of many years.
Yet there was something that never disappeared.
This is a story of nameless souls—
people who left no mark in history,
yet once lived, loved, and were loved.
Only the distant castle bells
and the sound of the sea
continue to carry their memory.
The song itself was originally written as an elegy for a man exiled to a distant land, who eventually died alone and was laid to rest beneath an unnamed grave.
For this music video, WAKON created another story inspired by that same sorrow.
The lyrics and the visuals do not necessarily depict the exact same events.
But they ultimately arrive at the same truth:
Even a life that disappeared unknown to the world
once knew what it meant to love—and to be loved.
